What is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR “Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing” has been proven to be effective with resolving the impact of trauma symptoms. Using eye movements and other forms of bilateral stimulation, disturbing memories are reprocessed. EMDR can decrease the impact of disturbing memories as well as changing the feelings, thoughts and behaviors resulting from a distressing experience.
What is IFS Therapy?
IFS “Internal Family Systems” is a model of therapy that views all people as having system of sub-parts that are protective as well as wounded inner parts. This system is led by a core Self. By gaining insight into what these parts are protecting us from, we can gain self-compassion and heal those parts of us that are carrying emotional pain.
EMDR and IFS therapy are therapy modalities that are each powerful on their own, but when combined in treatment by a competent and skilled therapist, the impact can be life changing. Both EMDR and IFS therapy are evidenced based therapies, meaning that they have been well researched and proven to be effective to address issues such as PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Grief, Chronic Illness to name a few.
